 A theorem for the identity of some purely imaginary zeros of a certain complex, and of some real ones of a specific real Kummer functions 1F1(a,c;x) is proved numerically. Employing this theorem and some known Tricomi formulae, an approximate expression is obtained, giving the numbers L(c,n) by the zeros of definite Bessel functions. Using it, a simple method is developed for reckoning the differential phase shift produced by the azimuthally magnetized circular ferrite waveguide.
