The aim of this paper named “Anthroponyms of Slovaks from the Lower Land“ is to point to the level of preserving national identity of Slovaks from the Lower Land in Slovak-Romanian village of Nadlak located in the north-western part of Romania. We studied how it is preserved by using and keeping individual names despite the influence of applicable Romanian legislation supporting the modification of Lower Land´s anthroponyms. Anthroponyms of Slovaks from the Lower Land constitute a significant factor of their specification in a foreign country environment. In this paper, we analysed first names of Slovaks from the Lower Land from various points of view, e.g. according to their structure and origin. We also carried out the frequency analysis of female and male first names and we drew up the overview of the most favourite first names in the period of 1950-2005 in Nadlak as well. We also focused our attention on the hypocoristic forms of anthroponyms which take effect as such.
