David prophecies of the resurrection" - from the Psalmody to the Miniature
The paper focuses on the miniatures with New Testament content on the pages of Hludov Psalter. They are strongly connected with the Pealter’s usage in the Orthodox worship. In the main focus are three psalms – Ps.9:33, Ps.43:27, Ps.67:2 – all of them have miniatures, connected with the Resurrection of Christ. There are no evidences in the exegetical writings of Holy Fathers, which connect these verses with the Resurrection. The investigation shows that these miniatures are strongly connected and are result of usage of these verses in the asmatic order of Matins of Good Saturday as prokimenon and alleluia. When the monastic typikon takes the place of the asmatic, Ps.9 and Ps.43 are changed and in the later illuminated Psalters they are not illustrated with Resurrection Miniatures. Ps.67 is still in use and it still has miniatures connected with the Christ’s Resurrection in the later illuminated Psalters. The Psalter is worship’s book of the Church and as a result of this, the miniatures have exegetical function and are connected with the worship of the Church.
