 The newly adopted Pre-school and School Education Act has led to the introduction of gradual changes in history instruction. The reorganization of the instructional content has necessitated the preparation of new history textbooks. The present paper aims to evaluate the adequacy of the discourse with regard to the new State Educational Requirements. The concept of “discourse” is used to refer to a whole unit of language performing a particular communicative function. The general review of the six approved textbook versions, carried out in the paper, reveals a strict application of and adherence to the approved standards. The textbook versions have their merits and meet the fresh challenges the history teachers are facing. They have the potential for interaction and will certainly arouse the students’ interest because of their qualities and attractiveness.
